View RecordsRequest an existing Heber Springs police report through the city’s police administration, identify the incident clearly, and use the state route for crash records.
For an incident handled by Heber Springs Police in Arkansas, start with police administration at 501-362-3661. The city’s directory lists that number for the police administrative assistant and chief. Use it to establish the current records-copy procedure and delivery choices. Cleburne County dispatch is separately listed; a routine request for an old report does not require a new emergency call.
Identify the agency on your original paperwork before sending the request. A Heber Springs postal address does not prove that city police investigated the event; a county deputy or state trooper may hold the original report. Ask administration to confirm the report number or correct custodian if you are uncertain, instead of assuming all local events share one searchable file.
Give the report or incident number, date and approximate time, street or other location, and the type of event. If you lack a number, supply the involved names and the known responding agency to help distinguish similar calls. Specify whether you need the initial incident report, a supplement or another existing item. Include a way to reach you and the format you prefer.
Explain your involvement when it affects access, but first ask which identification or authorization the custodian actually needs. The city directory does not publish a police-report fee, a complete release policy, a report-download portal or a guaranteed local turnaround. Confirm those points with the department. Do not send payment or sensitive identity documents merely because a third-party website says they are required.
Arkansas FOIA generally gives Arkansas citizens access to nonexempt public records. Its Attorney General guidance explains that exemptions can protect parts of a file, and the general response period is up to three business days. That does not make every investigative attachment immediately public. Ask for releasable portions and the reason for any withheld material rather than treating a partial report as a promise of the entire investigative file.
For ordinary FOIA copies, the Attorney General describes charges as actual reproduction costs plus mailing, subject to special statutory fees. Request the estimated total and delivery method before ordering a large file. The separate statewide crash-report prices below should not be used as Heber Springs’ price for an incident narrative or supplemental report.
Arkansas State Police maintains a statewide crash-report repository, including copies of local and county agencies’ crash reports. Its main instructions list $10 per report for a person involved in the crash and $25 per report for someone not involved. The online purchase service separately advertises $25 per report with electronic delivery if available. If you qualify for the $10 involved-person route, use the specific mail-in form or ask Crash Records before paying the online price.
The involved-person form asks for a report number, or crash date and time, road or street, county and other identifying information. Include a copy of your driver’s license or identification card. For a juvenile, the form specifies a birth-certificate copy plus the parent’s or guardian’s ID. It permits a return mailing address, email or fax. Make the check or money order payable to Arkansas State Police and mail the packet to Crash Records Section, One State Police Plaza Drive, Little Rock, AR 72209.
The main crash page says records are usually orderable within ten days after report completion; the online service describes most reports as accessible within ten business days after the crash. Because those statements use different starting points and units, confirm readiness before buying a repeat search. For a report involving juvenile occupants or other retrieval questions, contact Crash Records at 501-618-8130.
If a crash copy is missing, verify the date, county, driver’s name and investigating agency. Ask whether the report has been completed and forwarded to the state repository; the originating local department may retain its own copy. An empty online result is not proof that no report was made, and the state crash portal is not an index of all Heber Springs police incidents.
For an incorrect incident report or mismatched crash record, identify the specific error and ask the investigating agency about its correction or supplemental-report process. Keep the request date, report number and office response. If a recipient requires a certified or authenticated copy, establish that requirement with the custodian before paying; neither a portal result nor an ordinary emailed copy automatically meets every formal evidentiary requirement.
